weekend outings

Taking advantage of my "summer vacation."

Central Park...of course
Friday in the park with me :)

it's like a carnival inside the park

the dairy/info center
Enchanted, anyone?

everyone's favorite husky

strawberry fields

summer concert goers stuck in a thunderstorm

MOMA = grown up Chuck E. Cheese

Marc Chagall: I and the Village
I'm digging this artist

it's like a giant kaleidoscope fixed to a window

look inside and you see...madness
it's very disorientating

fluorescent empire state building

the future of modern art
a circle whose walls change color, you stare at a portion of
the wall for 30+ seconds and allow the change to alter your mood
I got really happy when my blue wall transitioned to yellow :)

it's amazing what an artist can do with a spotlight and a mirror
it's a very subtle statement, but I sure was impressed

flashing lights
I always seem to capture the romantic moments

not mark, not me

inside the alcove of infinite images

penny for my thoughts...and some tips
  • the MOMA is free on Fridays from 4-8pm
  • the Met lists suggested entrance prices, I suggest you don't pay their price
    • the Museum of Natural History works the same way, fyi
  • the Upper West Side is quaint, I would love to live there
  • Bethesda Fountain is my favorite place in Central Park, Sheep's Meadow is a close second
  • Magnolia Bakery bakes a mean red velvet cupcake...it easily beats out Sprinkles and Love at First Bite
  • NYC smells :(
  • rain is more fun when it is warm out
  • I'm lovin Van Gogh, Chagall, & Matisse (in that order)
  • adorable moment: 8 year old baby boy singing "Beat It" on the 1 heading uptown
  • a big THANKS to the womyn I can count on to listen (or, in the case of gchat, read) and advise
  • communication is key
